What HPLC purity measures
High-performance liquid chromatography separates a sample into its components and measures how much of the total is the intended compound versus impurities or degradation products. A purity result is a percentage of peak area, not a subjective grade — it's a specific, reproducible number tied to that exact test run.
Why the lab matters
A COA is only as credible as the lab that issued it. Look for a named, independent laboratory — not the seller itself — and, where available, a report ID or verification link you can check directly on the lab's own website.
What to check on a real certificate
The lot number on the certificate should match the lot printed on your vial, the tested compound should match what you bought, and the test date should be recent relative to when the batch was released — not years old or missing entirely.
What a COA doesn't tell you
A purity result confirms what's in the vial at the time of testing. It's not a safety, sterility, or medical claim, and it doesn't substitute for your own handling and storage practices in a research setting.
