How it works.

CJC-1295 is a modified GHRH analog engineered for a much longer half-life than sermorelin, achieved by linking the active peptide fragment to a drug affinity complex (DAC) that binds circulating albumin. It's most often compounded alongside a growth-hormone-releasing peptide such as ipamorelin.

Like sermorelin, CJC-1295 activates the pituitary's GHRH receptor to stimulate the body's own GH release. The DAC modification and resistance to enzymatic breakdown extend its activity from hours to days, producing a sustained rise in GH and IGF-1 rather than a single short pulse.

The Evidence

Randomized, placebo-controlled human dosing trials (Teichman et al., 2006)

Two randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled ascending-dose trials in healthy adults found single injections raised GH 2- to 10-fold for 6+ days and IGF-1 1.5- to 3-fold for 9-11 days, with a cumulative effect across repeat dosing — real controlled human data, though from a short-term healthy-volunteer population, not a therapeutic-outcome trial.

Phase II lipodystrophy/GHD trial discontinued after a subject death

A later clinical program studying CJC-1295 for lipodystrophy and growth hormone deficiency was halted after a trial subject died; the investigator attributed it to unrelated coronary artery disease, but the sponsor stopped development as a precaution. A separate planned trial in HIV-associated visceral adiposity was also discontinued during recruitment with no results reported.

No FDA-approved product or label exists

Despite the positive dosing-trial data, CJC-1295 never completed development into an approved drug — its evidence base stops at Phase I/II, and there is no FDA label defining an approved dose, indication, or long-term safety profile.
